The Centro Universitário Integrado, an organization based in Campo Mourão in the northwestern part of the state and affiliated with AHK Paraná, is accepting applications for a free online course on the “Gig Economy,” an American term referring to a flexible form of work or an alternative form of employment. The project, funded by the European Union, begins on March 8, and only a few spots remain.

The course aims to promote teaching and research in the field of Gig Economy practices in the European Union, examining their economic, legal, political, and sociocultural implications, and exploring possible regulatory measures that could be adopted as best practices in other regions.

In total, the course consists of 112 hours of classes, with a certificate issued by the Integrated University Center and bearing the EU seal. Classes are held every two weeks, on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, and are recorded in case students are unable to attend live. In addition to this learning experience, students will gain insight into how these practices are actually handled in Europe.

“In Brazil, it’s a high-demand economy, but one that’s not yet widespread. It will be beneficial for students. It’s very important for companies concerned with leveraging the on-demand economy and for the people who work within it and use these services,” emphasizes Professor Fabrício Pelloso, the project coordinator.
