Special Issue: *Perspectivas Contemporâneas* Magazine Launches Special Issue on the Gig Economy in the European Union

The journal Perspectivas Contemporâneas announces its upcoming special issue, titled “On-Demand Work and Institutional Transformations: The Gig Economy in the European Union.” Scheduled for publication in December 2026, the issue brings together studies that analyze the impacts of the platform economy on labor relations, social protection systems, and regulatory frameworks in the European Union.

The initiative aims to foster a critical and interdisciplinary debate on the institutional changes brought about by digital platforms such as Uber, Deliveroo, and Glovo, as well as to address issues such as collective organization, social justice, and the digitization of work. The call for papers will open in February 2026, with a submission deadline of November 15 of the same year.

Coordinated by Professors Dr. Fabricio Pelloso Piurcosky, Dr. Mario de Martino, and Dr. Rui Alexandre Castanho, the special issue invites researchers from various fields to contribute reflections that also facilitate dialogue between European and South American contexts.
